GCSE Additional Maths

In the Abbey Additional Maths is always studied in one year.

It is completed in 5th year if you are in S1a/S1b or it is completed in lower sixth year if you are in classes S1c/S1d/S1e (in conjunction with an A' level course. It is under the CCEA examboard.

The course is designed for more able students who would like to achieve a career involving maths, eg: accountancy.

There is no course work element in GCSE Additional Maths so only the two papers make up the final grade.

All students sit the one tier.

Paper 1 consists of pure maths.
Section A: 8 compulsory questions.
Section B: Choose 4 out of 6 questions.

Paper 2 consists of Mechanics and Staistics.
Section A: 6 compulsory questions.
Section B1: Mechanics, Choose 2 out of 3 questions.
Section B2: Statistics, Choose 2 out of 3 questions.
